Parent/School/Student Compacts are utilized at Jefferson Middle School to outline responsibilities for each party in the process of achieving student success. 

Our Blackboard One Call phone system is utilized to leave a message on parent or guardian(s) phone. JMS will communicate weekly with parents through this system.  One calls are sent out on Sunday evenings at 6:00 P.M.  

JMS will utilize the parent communication system, Behind the Blackboard. This will allow emails, text messages, phone calls, and other avenues of communication with parents.  

We utilize our website found at https://jms.jc-tn.net.  This site contains all faculty email addresses for easy access.  It also contains articles highlighting school activities and student work. Check out our calendar!  

Our students have access to an in-house announcement system that is kept up to date.   

Parents can see recent communication in our school foyer on the board displaying upcoming and ongoing events.   

Parent-Teacher Conferences are held in the fall and spring semesters.  

Student handbooks are created by administration/staff/parent committees and distributed to every student at enrollment.  The student handbook outlines rules, procedures, and communication information.  

Parents are encouraged to send a note, email, call, or Remind/Group Me/Band app messages when a concern arises. 

A marquee in front of the school is used to remind families of important upcoming events. 

Our school has a Facebook and Instagram page(s) that is consistently updated with school events.  Information is communicated there along with positive things that are going on in our school. 

Families are given timely reports on progress with report cards every 9 weeks (about 2 months) and mid-terms between each 9-week reporting period. 

Aspen is updated weekly for students in grade 6-8.   

Jefferson Middle holds an Open House at the beginning of the year for students and parents to meet and greet faculty. 

Jefferson Middle School will participate in College Week, Kindness week, and Red Ribbon Week.  

The school library sponsors a Book Fair at least once during the school year.  

Jefferson Middle School’s Leadership Team meets regularly to discuss different events where parents are invited and involved.   

Administration and teachers meet with parents and guardians to discuss student academic, behavior, and absenteeism concerns. 

Parents can check their child’s grades at any point throughout the year.  You can log into your child’s account by going to Jefferson County Schools webpage. https://www.jc-tn.net.  On the home screen choose Aspen, enter your child’s name (ex. jane.doe) and your child’s lunch number (ex. 000000).   

Teachers utilize communication apps (Remind and Band) to easily pass along information to families. 

SAVVAS, Gallopade, Ready Math, and Learn Zillion are all subscribed to programming available to students at home through the internet.  Students can access their programs through ClassLink.
